Happy Holidays! And Presents!

-By Lauren Panepinto

I've had the pleasure of getting not only Thanksgiving this year, but also Christmas on my post days. I'm working on the next Deadly Art Sin (Lust!) but in the meantime, here's some presents. What do artists need? Audio to work to! And it just so happens one of my favorite books is being turned into a radio play right now:

Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, by the BBC

The first 4 episodes (of 6) are already up, and free to listen for 30 days. If you haven't read Good Omens, then consider this a nice intro, then go read the book, because there is so much more in there, and it's all damned hilarious. If you're already a fan of the book, then you'll definitely love this. I'm missing some of my favorite passages that just can't translate, but they're doing a fabulous job. Makes me wish even harder for that stalled Good Omens movie.

They've done some fun art for the episodes, with a bunch of artists, and they're posting process images as well. Good job, BBC!

Crowley & Aziraphale, by Sean Philips

And because two gifts are better than one, here is an EPIC link dump of where to find a near-infinite number of free versions of H. P. Lovecraft Audiobooks

If you haven't read Lovecraft, then I suggest starting with some of the greatest hits: At the Mountains of Madness (BBC), The Call of Cthulhu (, and The Shadow Over Innsmouth (

(People will debate for days over which are the best Lovecraft stories for beginners, but know those 3 and you can hold your own at any geeky cocktail party conversation.)

Some of Mark A. Nelson's Innsmouth residents series…which will be funnier once you know the story of Innsmouth.
Stay tuned for more news about this awesome project!
So Happy Holidays, everyone, whether you celebrate Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, or already danced widdershins while sky clad on the solstice! See you in 2015!

  1. Merry Christmas! Thank you for the gifts

  2. Looks fantastic. Can't wait to see your mug illustrated by Nelson's Innsmouthy style, Lauren. Hehe!

  3. Hello there,Good Omens is an epic.I continue endlessly about radio being the true visual medium, and I genuinely believe it is –it paints pictures in the imagination and bypasses the optic nerve and sneaks in through the side door.So for me,radio is the ideal medium for Good Omens. We can create everything from the armies of paradise and hell to a pack of kids playing in a chalk quarry, its got each one of those component.Thank you so much.
